Very shortly humanity across the globe, is going to celebrate 165th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore. Though Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore became mixed with the stars way back in the year 1941 on August 7. Despite Gurudev being deceased in that year, I feel that he is still deeply vivid among us.

Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore was born in undivided India, in such a period of time, when the entire globe was in the midst t iof severe claustrophobia. Gurudev faced two major wars. His mind was in a state of anarchy. But he could manage the show amidst the spectre of strain and stress with courage and determination.

In order to evaluate Rabindranath Tagore, let me begin with his social thought.

About social thought of Rabindranath Tagore, I find that it is deep-rooted in areas like humanism, universalism, internationalism, which prioritize upon individual freedom along with cultural synthesise overcoming narrow nationalism. As Gurudev craves in for rural reconstruction, educational reform with dismantling of various social barriers like caste, which aim for holistic development of human civilization rather than mere political independence.

So far, I have given broader touch upon social thoughts of Rabindranath Tagore. From another aspect, there are also various social thoughts as propounded by Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore, which are stated as such, humanism and universalism, rural reconstruction, reforms of education, social reform and women’s empowerment, critique of nationalism and freedom as human emancipation.

So far, I have highlighted about social thoughts of Rabindranath Tagore. Now let me touch upon his political and economic thoughts of Rabindranath Tagore.

Rabindranath Tagore, despite being a noble thinker, he always propagated for human welfare and growth in life. During his eighty years of longevity, he always propagated to the Superpower that in life there are various types of situations, which we have to counteract with grim and elegance. As per his views, he always emphasised upon purity of soul and ornamentation. During his stays at Shantiniketan, he spoke at length with diverse national figures, like Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Mahatma Gandhi, Dinabandhu C.F. Andrews, Dr B.C. Roy etc various luminary citizens of those days. With all the above luminaries, Gurudev had pleasant exchanges on diverse issues of common areas. His mission of life was to uphold our noble legacies. That means we must cover issues life peace and calumny, transparency and ethics, cordial and amiable demeanour which may act as a keystone towards our success and prosperity in life. During the pre-independence, the noble citizens of undivided India preached for the development of the independent nation.

As we are in the midst of advancement and progress, we must focus upon areas like thinking on a broader scale, we should be compassionate upon poor and downtrodden sections of societies. The scholars of India, always felt, especially during pre-independence phase, that we should upgrade our mind that which pave the ways towards prosperity and success.

Now coming to the economic thoughts of Rabindranath Tagore, which are of enormous pattern. The thoughts on economic issues are stated as follow:

Expansion of industrial growth.
Expansion of literacy growth.
Expansion on rural growth.
Abolition of Zamindari system.
Bridging the gap between urban and urban areas.

Apart from the economic and social thought of Rabindranath Tagore, we should not forget to state, the literary and musical thoughts as enunciated by him. Now let me touch upon the literary thoughts of Gurudev. It was through the mode of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore’s literary thoughts; he propagated the symbol of oneness and open mindedness. This enables human mind to open the horizon of mind to new vistas.

The literary works written by Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore are stated as such, Gitanjali (1913), Sonar Tari, Gora, Ghare Bahire, Galpaguchcha, Shesher Kabita (1929), Choker Bali, (1903), Raktakarabi, (1926), Dak Ghar, (1912), Raja, (1910) etc various others.

Songs composed by Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore are stated as such, Janagana Manaadhinayaka, Aamar Sonar Bangla, Jodi Tor Dak Shune Keu Ekla Cholo Re, Alo Aamar Alo Ogo Aloye Bhuban Bhora, Ami Chini Go---, ‘Aguner Parashmoni, ‘Tumi Robe Nirabe’, ‘Pagla Haoar Badale Dine’ etc which transformed greatly the life and heart of innocent human civilisations.

While writing about Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore, one point strikes our mind that we should transform our mind in such a manner which is no doubt an energetic factor of life.

Now while evaluating the pulse of Rabindranath Tagore, we find that he is always the guardian of Bengali language and culture. Poet and Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore is always regarded as the guardian of Bengali language and literature. Tagore modernized the Bengali language along with proper revolution. Rather Gurudev defined comprehensive cultural identity which give a clear indication of about Bengali ethos. He was known as the ‘Bard of Bengal’. That means Gurudev transformed Bengali from a regionally focussed language into a strong literary force which creates deep impact upon approximately 250 million speakers.

There are various ways and means by which poet and Nobel Laureate in Bengali literature which are stated as follow:

Modernisation and standardisation of the Bengali language. Comprehensive Cultural Iconography.
Fostering modern Bengali renaissance.

Globalisation of Bengali Identity.

We are all well aware of that Rabindranath Tagore all around the globe. Rabindranath Tagore was such a gigantic personality, through which he adapted to upgrade cultural upbringing of Bengali language and culture. Though Bengali language is spoken widely among people of West Bengal, but is also equally spoken at length by the citizens of Bangladesh. As Gulf War has progressed to near three months, it is high time to ensure easing of Gulf War. Tagore in his eighty years of longevity in this earth. Always propagated bonds of communal amity and integrity. He was very much against communal seeds and vices. He felt in this world, citizens always prefer to live in peace, so that mental makeup of the humanity always ornaments human life like a colourful magenta. He delves upon human life to self-dignify so as to have good acceptability among the citizens of the globe. The songs which he composed always have an indelible impact upon human life. The details of music composed by Tagore is still deeply vivid in our mind and heart. As per the data I do have, there are around 2500 music composed by Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore which has still become a household name in every Bengali household.
