MOFA condemns Israeli forces over attacks that killed Bangladeshis

Bangladesh's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) on Tuesday condemned the "heinous" attack by Israeli forces in southern Lebanon on Monday, which resulted in the tragic killing of two Bangladeshi nationals. According to the Embassy of Bangladesh in Beirut, the bodies are currently being held at a hospital in Lebanon.

The Bangladesh government expressed its profound grief and deepest condolences to the bereaved families of the victims, the ministry said in a statement.

It said the Bangladesh mission in Lebanon is working with the relevant local authorities to complete the necessary formalities for the repatriation of their mortal remains.

"Once again, Bangladesh reiterates its deep concern over the continuing violence and loss of civilian lives in the region and calls for maximum restraint and adherence to international humanitarian law," the statement read.

The latest strike reportedly came amid continuing tensions and military operations in southern Lebanon despite ongoing ceasefire efforts in the region.

Earlier in April this year, another Bangladeshi migrant worker was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Beirut.
