We Are Yet to Learn How to Love

 We Are Yet to Learn How to Love

 Rezauddin Stalin

We are yet to learn how to love,
Mistaking marriage for its consequence.
Human life is always incomplete,
A short-lived candlelight.
We measured happiness with wealth.
We have not learnt how to ask,
But have only answered.

Truth, too, expires someday.
Having intimated with the beloved,
We thought love to have been accomplished;
Still we remain miles away from each other.
Love allows no guide
Butterflies are its companions.

Love does not head advice;
It follows the echo.
Genius is merely wisdom,
A lantern lit in broad daylight.

Nothing is more astonishing than the past;
One day, even the infinite comes to an end.
