Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said the people of the country will prevent all obstacles in the process of the implementation of the BNP government's electoral pledges one by one.

While addressing the Family Card distribution ceremony at Chandpur Government College ground in Chandpur on Saturday afternoon, he urged all to remain vigilant to what he described as attempts by vested interests to spread confusion in the name of politics.

"A section is trying to spread confusion in the name of politics. If anyone wants to create confusion in the name of politics, if anyone wants to create anarchy in the name of politics, will you remain silent? None of us will remain silent," he said.

The event followed the launch of the re-excavation of the 'Bishwa Canal' adjacent to Ghosher Haat in Kumarduli village of Shahmahmudpur Union.
Tarique Rahman said, "I want to clearly say today that we will implement the electoral pledges as they have supported us.

"If anyone wants to thwart the plans, the people of Bangladesh will foil their conspiracies," he said, adding that the government does not need to do anything in the process since the public will deal with any such issue.

Tarique Rahman said he had grown up seeing politics as a means of excavating canals, increasing agricultural production, setting up new mills and factories, creating jobs, ensuring healthcare and guaranteeing people's security, adding that this was the politics his party believed in.

Urging everyone to work to build the country, Tarique Rahman said, "Now is the time to work. Now is the time to build the country. Let's dedicate ourselves to nation-building . . . we must remain alert so that no one can obstruct the path of nation-building."

Social Welfare, and Women and Children Affairs Minister Prof AZM Zahid Hossain chaired the programme.

Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon, State Minister for Social Welfare Farzana Sharmin, Prime Minister's Adviser Mahdi Amin, Chandpur-1 MP and district BNP President Sheikh Farid Ahmed Manik, Chandpur-2 MP Jalal Ahmed, reserved seat MP Rashed Begum Hira, Chandpur Zila Parishad Administrator AKM Salim Ullah Selim and Social Welfare Secretary Dr Mohammad Abu Yusuf, among others, spoke at the programme.

Family Card beneficiaries Ruma Akhter and Monowara Begum also expressed their feelings, praising the Prime Minister's initiative.

Agriculture Minister Mohammed Aminnur Rashid, Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu, Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Executive Chairman Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun and local party leaders were also present.
