Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Vice Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu has commented that all wrongdoing in the country is being carried out by Jamaat-E-Islami. Shamsuzzaman Dudu said, "Jamaat-E-Islami does business in the name of Islam. All the wrongdoings in the country are being done by Jamaat-e-Islami, but the blame is being shifted onto the BNP government."
He made these remarks yesterday (21 May 2026 Thursday) while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion meeting marking the founding anniversary of the Nationalist Pharmacy Association, held at the National Press Club in the capital at around 12:30 pm.
He further said that there is a group which cannot think of anything good other than lies. "They have never been able to gain people's trust and confidence, so not only have they failed to come to power, they do not even have significant public support. They use Islam while actually working against Islam. In politics, they are such a group that has nothing but lies."
Referring to that group as Jamaat-e-Islami, he said, "They do business with Islam. The incidents of wrongdoing we are seeing in various sectors in Bangladesh-if we discuss them, they may feel offended. But the reality is that they are responsible for most of these wrongdoings. Yet they try to shift the blame onto the government."
The BNP leader also claimed that Jamaat-E-Islami is responsible for the highest number of incidents of violence against women in the country, as well as the most killings of freedom fighters. He warned that when they "wear masks" and present themselves as working for the country's betterment, people must remain cautious.
