Hadi's sister asks why Jaber is plaintiff in murder case

Hadi's sister asks why Jaber is plaintiff in murder case

Masuma Hadi, the sister of deceased Inqilab Moncho spokesman Sharif Osman bin Hadi, has demanded to know why Abdullah Al Jaber, the organisation's member secretary, became the plaintiff in his murder case. In a Facebook post on Friday morning, she wrote: "As soon as I heard the news that my brother was shot, I left for Dhaka and went straight to Evercare Hospital.

"After going to the hospital, I did not leave it for a minute, let alone go home. I didn't even go to the ground floor for a minute without Osman Ghani, bdnews24 reports.

"Now my question is - why did the administration come to Evercare and get Jaber's signature? And why did Jaber sign it when I was present? I have asked about this many times."

Masuma continued, "I was told that they went to Omar (Hadi's elder brother) and Omar said, 'Now we are busy with the treatment. We will see to these things once the treatment is completed. I can't think of anything else at the moment except treatment."

"It is worth noting that there is no legal complication in getting the signature for the plaintiff in such a very important criminal case. Even if the plaintiff does not file a case at the police station, police can take all kinds of legal action based on the incident."

Hadi, who came to the spotlight during the movement to ban the activities of the Awami League after the July Uprising, had announced that he would run as an independent candidate from the Dhaka-8 constituency during the 13th national parliamentary election. On Dec 12, 2025, he was shot by an assailant while headed to the Bijoynagar area for a campaign event. He later died in Singapore on Dec 18 while undergoing treatment.

On Jun 2, Hadi's elder brother Omar claimed in two posts on Facebook that the BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, and members of the interim government were involved in the murder.

In the face of social media backlash, he wrote the next day: "I withdraw my post as the murder case of martyr Osman Hadi is still under investigation."

After Hadi's assassination, Omar Hadi was appointed as the second secretary at the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in the UK's Birmingham by the interim government for a three-year contract. Many people on social media raised questions about why he took the job, and why Omar and his family had not filed a case as the plaintiff. Many others responded that no one in the family wanted to file a lawsuit at the time due to "security concerns".

Commenting on "indecency" on social media over the past couple of days regarding the plaintiff in Hadi's murder case, Masuma wrote: "I did not want to say anything about the plaintiff in my brother's case because a much more terrible conspiracy has been hatched against our family.

"I have not spoken up on that matter until now in the interest of my brother. If I open my mouth, everyone will have the same question - how could anyone who stood next to my brother be involved in this terrible conspiracy involving his family?"

Hadi's sister wrote, "I want to know - everyone should feel what Omar's mental state was at that moment. Omar Faruk was covered in Osman Ghani's blood because the two brothers were in the same rickshaw. If another bullet had been fired, Omar Hadi would have been killed like my Osman Ghani."

"Omar's clothes and even the watch he was wearing had dried stains of Osman Ghani's blood on them. On the day Osman Ghani was to be taken to Singapore, Omar took a bath in the morning and cleaned the blood stains from the watch."

Masuma asked, "Who is talking about the plaintiff in the case? Who is saying that we did not want to be plaintiffs for security reasons? This needs to be clarified. If Jaber wasn't from Nalchity, there would have been no questions.

"Because anyone who had been with my Osman Ghani for a long time knows how much his younger sister was involved in Osman Ghani's life. And his younger sister wouldn't hesitate for a second about giving up her life for Osman Ghani. We must clarify who allowed Jaber to file the case without coming to that younger sister."

When Inqilab Moncho Member Secretary Jaber was contacted on Friday afternoon for a statement on the matter, another person picked up his phone. He asked questions before he would permit this reporter to talk to Jaber. After listening to the questions, he said that he would connect the reporter with Jaber after five minutes. However, despite repeated calls, Jaber's phone was not answered again.
