State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed has said that Bangladesh has sent around 12 to 13 official letters to the Indian government for settlement of the push-in predicament. Shama Obaed conveyed this information to journalists at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) on Monday (8 June 2026).
According to Shama Obaed, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has taken a firm stance over India's push-in attempts. Such things from the Indian side are not acceptable, Shama Obaed commented. She added that the Bangladesh government has informed India about this issue a broad number of times.
Shama Obaed called upon the Indian authorities to comply with statutory regulations and lawful procedure for sending back illegal citizens. She stated that pushing in people across the border will impact both countries' initiative to recover bilateral amity.
On the other hand, the 57th high-profile meeting between India's Border Security Force (BSF) and Border Guard Bangladesh started from yesterday which is scheduled to go on till 11 June 2026.
