An Evaluation of Marco Rubio’s Visit to India

An Evaluation of Marco Rubio’s Visit to India

Very recently Marco Rubio, the secretary of state of the US, was on a short visit to India. The visit can be interpreted from various angles. Rubio was in India, from May 23 to May 26, 2026. The visit was for multiple issues, which affected the entire citizens of India, citizens of the entire Sub-Continent. In this short visit to Rubio, he also found time to visit Kolkata, the capital of the Indian state of West Bengal.

Previously no overseas visitors ever touched down in Kolkata.

They visited New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai etc various other prominent cities of this vast nation India. As change of guards took place in West Bengal, hence overseas delegates transformed their impressions about West Bengal. Very recently there has been a mass change of guards in West Bengal. Both the central and state governments have similar governments. Hence it is my feeling that this pride of the state of West Bengal will soon bounce back. In the aftermath of her bouncing back, expectation of this state of pride West Bengal will be rejuvenated to new vistas and awakening. If the new energetic government of West Bengal is able to deliver the goods properly, then automatically we will find out that reputed industrial houses of India as well as from other parts of the globe will usher in a new awakening for West Bengal.

There is a glaring difference between West Bengal vis-à-vis that of other parts of India plus the US and other parts of the globe. It is for the last fifteen days; West Bengal has been kept in the dockyard which badly prevented the development of our network. As long as Trinamool Congress was ruling West Bengal, the citizens of the state were in the midst of utmost hysteria. People of the state literally felt that change is badly required, otherwise we will be completely lost in the wilderness. At long last, we find the prized wickets of Trinamool Congress have been badly toppled. Which paved the way towards setting up of new ultra-radical forces like B.J.P in this state.

Now coming to the key point, we find that the visit of Marco Rubio points positive trends towards rejuvenation of West Bengal. Though the visit of Rubio was extremely short-lived. In this regard, my feeling is that the age of frustration and grievances will no doubt erase off which will one day usher a feeling of hopes and aspirations for the people of West Bengal.

Marco Rubio's visit to India was to attend the Quad Summit in the Indian capital city New Delhi. Rubio’s aim was to steady the tense Indo US relations. Marco Rubio always wishes to pacify Indo US relations thereby India to get rid of trade frictions between the two nations and also the latest global energy crisis. During his trip Marco Rubio also had the privilege to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar.

Now let me trace out key highlights of the visit of Macro Rubio. These are stated as such,Trade and Economics-United States of America has maintained strain and stress relations. The visit of Marco was on a huge settlement of the current trade and energy crisis, trade crisis for everlasting solutions so that India should finalize bilateral trade and commercial cooperations between the two nations.

Energy and West Asia crisis-The energy crisis in West Asia has been termed as a painstaking phenomenon which the globe has ever come across. There have been massive disruptions, especially to that of Strait of Hormuz.  The disruption of Strait of Hormuz has disrupted oil production, which caused Brent crude forecasts to surge to $90 $ 95 per barrel. The surge which has taken place due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz which has created a sharp rise in global energy, freight and insurance costs, which forced over 40 nations inclusive of India, which implements energy saving and rationing measures.

Visa and Immigration-During the visit of Marco Rubio, he highlighted the Trump administrations strict immigration and visa policies, which has caused terrible visa policies which caused friction in relations with India.

The Quad- There are four quad member nations, such as the US, Japan, India and Australia. These nations maintain this strategic, diplomatic and security forum with the objective to promote a free, open and problems free Indo-Pacific region.

Invitation to US- The relations between India and US was in a state of coercive phenomenon. Though Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi tried his level best to upgrade the level of normal and bilateral relations to super degree of relations. The collaborations are aplenty. Despite coercive moments, the efforts are being initiated by the Indian Prime Minister to bolster the pleasant relations between the two nations. However, to get an US visa, the following processes have to be adopted. Among all some of the common ones are stated as follow:

Full name along with detailed contact address

The Host’s immigration address
Relationship between the host and visa applicants
Visa applicant’s full name and address.
Purpose of the trip

During the visit of Marco Rubio to India, there was a detailed discussion between India and US officials. The basic issues which were centred upon during the visit was appeasement of the Gulf War. Now due to the impact of the Gulf War, it was found that prices of essential items surged so high that they dismantled the backbone of Indian citizens. In this regard, the issue of Bangladesh should be taken due consideration by both Indian and US authorities. As Bangladesh has been nominated as a special nominated member, but it is still doubtful in our mind whether the situation will ease off soon or not. Though from the economic aspect, India holds slightly on the upper edge, but in comparison Bangladesh has been forcefully retraced on the backyard.

The visit of Marco Rubio might be acknowledged as their positive stance, but rationalistically speaking it might not be interpreted as such. Politically, economically and socially, not only the above stated nations, there has been a complete turmoil around the South Asian Sub Continent. It might be a strain and stressful situation for the Sub-Continent but the real judgement is meted out by the citizens of India and Bangladesh as well as by the entire Sub-Continent.
