Mamtaz gets bail  in three cases

Former Member of Parliament from banned political party Awami League and famed singer Mamtaz Begum has been granted bail in connection with three different cases by the High Court. A High Court bench consisting of Justice Khairul Alam and Justice AKM Rabiul Hasan gave this order on Monday (15 June 2026).

Senior lawyer Motahar Hossain Shaju moved the bail petition for Mamtaz Begum in the court. Motahar Hossain Shaju told journalists that the High Court has approved bail application for Mamtaz Begum connected with two murder cases and one attempt to murder case which were filed in Mirpur and Ashulia following the July Uprising in 2024. Mamtaz Begum was arrested on 12 May 2025 from the capital's Dhanmondi area.

Vocalist Mamtaz Begum contested from Manikganj 2 electoral area during the 12th parliamentary elections though she lost the polls to independent candidate Dewan Jahid Ahmed Tulu.
