Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP) Chairman Andalib Rahman Partho has been made Chairman of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Standing Committee at the Jatiya Sangsad. On the other hand, BNP Member of Parliament (MP) Mushfiqur Rahman has been nominated Chairman of Parliamentary Committee on Finance Ministry. Andalib Rahman Partho was elected in the latest general polls from Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) ally BJP which were held on 12 February 2026.
A parliamentary session held on Sunday under the presidency of Deputy Speaker Kaiser Kamal was proposed by Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni to appoint Andalib Rahman Partho and Mushfiqur Rahman in the Chairman posts of the above two standing committees. Afterwards the proposal was endorsed by voice votes in Parliament.
Each of these committees consists of 10 members. Two MPs from Jamaat-E-Islami and National Citizens Party (NCP) have been placed in each committee. Parliamentary standing committees are made in compliance with parliamentary procedures stated in sections 246, 247 and 248. These committees review decisions and policies made by respective ministries, scrutinize bills, monitor expenditures and submit reports to Jatiya Sangsad.
