Bangladesh, Maldives eye stronger defence ties
Bangladesh and the Maldives on Thursday reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening defence diplomacy, military cooperation, institutional collaboration, and strategic partnership.
The understanding came when Bangladesh High Commissioner to the Maldives Dr Md Nazmul Islam paid a courtesy call on Maldives' Minister of Defence and National Service Hassan Rasheed, according to the Bangladesh mission.
Both sides discussed expanding cooperation in professional military education and training, defence institutional exchanges, humanitarian assistance and disaster response, maritime security, and capacity building.
They also expressed optimism about enhancing future defence collaboration to further contribute to peace, stability, and security in the Indian Ocean region.
