Tripura CM sends pineapples to PM Tarique Rahman
Chief Minister of Indian state Tripura Prof Dr Manik Saha has sent 780kg of pineapples as a gift to Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. The consignment, comprising 620 pineapples packed in 100 cartons, arrived in Bangladesh through the Akhaura Land Port in Brahmanbaria around 1:00pm on Wednesday.
Officials from the Assistant High Commission of India in Chattogram received the consignment before handing it over to representatives of the Indian High Commission in Dhaka for onward delivery. The pineapples were later transported to the capital by pickup.
The shipment follows Bangladesh's gift of 600 kilograms of Haribhanga and Amrapali mangoes to Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on June 30 through the same land port. Officials said the annual exchange of seasonal fruits symbolises the warm and cordial relations between the neighbouring regions.
