BNP forgets the spirit of July: Mia Golam Porwar
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami General Secretary Mia Golam Porwar on Saturday said that though the ruling BNP is the beneficiary of July Uprising, the party has forgotten the spirit of it.
He came up with the remarks while addressing a protest rally in capital's Mohakhali area on Saturday demanding the implementation of the verdict of the referendum and trial of those involved in the July massacre.
Mia Golam Porwar said, "The people of Bangladesh have not forgotten the memories of blood shed during the July movement. But the lawmakers BNP, beneficiary of July, say in parliament that there is no need to talk about July Uprising."
"Different political parties including BNP signed a total of 84 reform proposals of the July Charter. But now, the party has stayed away from such pledges" he said.
Criticizing BNP, Mia Golam Porwar said, "Attempts are being made to rehabilitate the fascists in the name of 'reformed Awami League' through rectifying laws. The ruling party is appointing its people in different levels of administration."
Chaired by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Dhaka City North Ameer Mohammad Selim Uddin, the rally was addressed by Maj (Retd) Akhtaruzzaman, Mufti Ali Hasan Osama and Dr Faizul Haque, among others.
