2 more die with measles symptoms, 107 new cases
Two more people have died with measles symptoms in Bangladesh in 24 hours, with one death reported in Dhaka Division and another in Sylhet.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) also reported 107 new confirmed measles cases during the period. In its bulletin on Tuesday, the DGHS said 107 people tested positive for measles between 8am on Monday and 8am on Tuesday. The health authorities have been publishing measles-related data since Mar 15.
The country has so far recorded 98 deaths among confirmed measles patients.
Another 782 people have died after developing symptoms associated with measles.
Dhaka Division has reported the highest number of deaths among people with measles symptoms, at 342.
Sylhet follows with 125 deaths, while 91 have died in Rajshahi, 61 in Chattogram, 46 in Barishal, 72 in Mymensingh, 32 in Khulna and 13 in Rangpur.
According to the DGHS, another 872 people with measles symptoms arrived at hospitals across the country in the past 24 hours, while 812 were admitted for treatment.
Of those admitted, 292 were in Dhaka Division, 24 in Rajshahi, 92 in Sylhet, 260 in Chattogram, 133 in Barishal, 47 in Mymensingh, 55 in Khulna and nine in Rangpur.
The total number of measles patients admitted to hospitals across the country has now reached 120,134, of whom 115,980 have been discharged.
The number of suspected measles patients in Bangladesh has risen to 138,184, while the number of confirmed cases stands at 17,385, according to the DGHS.
