The government has promoted 277 senior assistant secretaries and officers of equivalent rank to deputy secretary in another major reshuffle shakeup of the administration. The public administration ministry issued separate gazettes formalizing the promotions on Monday. The promoted officers include members of the administration cadre as well as officers from other cadres. This is the second major round of promotions since the BNP formed the government in February after winning the February election.
Earlier, on Jul 9, the government elevated 179 deputy secretaries to joint secretary.
Those made deputy secretary have been attached to the public administration ministry as special officers on deputation pending allocation of their new posts.
A senior public administration ministry official told bdnews24.com that the promotions were mainly for officers from the 31st batch of the administration cadre.
"Of them, 168 are from the 31st batch, 35 are from other batches and 74 are from other cadres."
The gazettes say the promoted civil servants can submit their joining letters directly to the senior secretary of the ministry or by email at [email protected].
If an officer has already been transferred from the workplace listed in the promotion order, they must submit the joining letter with the name and address of their current workplace.
