Bangladesh has reported three more deaths linked to measles in a 24-hour count, alongside 68 freshly confirmed cases. The new cases were detected in the 24 hours from 8am on Wednesday, a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) bulletin said on Thursday, bdnews24 reports. The health directorate has been publishing measles data since Mar 15. The confirmed death toll has now reached 99 nationwide, while 826 more have died with symptoms of the disease.
Dhaka Division has borne the brunt, with 365 such deaths, followed by Sylhet with 137.
Rajshahi Division has counted 92, Chattogram 63, Barishal 49, Mymensingh 74, Khulna 32 and Rangpur 14.
Another 1,004 people with measles symptoms sought treatment at hospitals nationwide over the same period, of whom 950 were admitted, the DGHS said.
Of these, 309 were admitted in Dhaka Division, 35 in Rajshahi, 131 in Sylhet, 228 in Chattogram, 124 in Barishal, 57 in Mymensingh, 54 in Khulna and 12 in Rangpur.
Total hospital admissions for measles nationwide have reached 128,026, of whom 123,684 have been discharged.
Suspected measles cases across the country have climbed to 146,715, while confirmed cases stand at 18,144.
