Artistry has shaped human history by acting as a visual and cultural record, a tool for political and religious power, and a medium for social change.
It reflects the values, fears, and aspirations of every era, bridging gaps across time to show how societies viewed themselves and the world.

Upholding the above discourse on creativity and human imagination, an art exhibition titled Lobongolotika was inaugurated at Edge Gallery in the capital’s Gulshan 2 on 14 August 2026. Celebrated artist Bipasha Hayat was present among the dignitaries who inaugurated the display.  Different dimensions of women’s life, livelihoods, struggles, social contribution and many more significant things are being portrayed through these artworks, according to a press release received from Edge Gallery.

A substantial number of visitors joined the exhibition and looked around the paintings. This is a vital part of an enormous drive to regenerate the value and role of artistry in rectifying society, establishing equal rights and resurrecting humanitarian stature in the minds of people which is actually the principal goal of art and artists.

Lobongolotika is an exceptional token that exhibits the side of women’s journey that is scarcely shown. Breaking the mainstream barrier of romanticizing women's suffering and obstacles, it shows the actual strength that it takes for a woman to shine and pave their way. Much like a vine that climbs toward the light without asking permission, Lobongolotika reveals the raw strength and agility it takes for women to carve out their own spaces, shifting the focus from endurance to unapologetic triumph. Named after the traditional confection where delicate, sweet folds are held fiercely together by the sharp bite of a clove.

Lobongolotika captures the exquisite paradox of the feminine spirit; soft yet unyielding, delicate yet fiercely resilient. Through modern and contemporary lenses, the 23 participating artists converge to map the geography of their own freedom. Across generations and backgrounds, these artists capture the desires, laughter, and electric power of autonomy. Rupali Chowdhury, Executive Director of Berger Subsidiaries, gave an inaugural speech during the opening ceremony.

Professor Samina Lutfa from the University of Dhaka delivered a special address, and the exhibition was officially inaugurated by Mohua Khan, Trustee of Edge, The Foundation. In curating this exhibition, Edge Gallery celebrates this fierceness and strength that women constantly bring to the society and offers a space to witness, discuss, and celebrate their boundless agility. The exhibition will be open to all till September 4th, 2026 from 10 am to 9 pm.
