PM provides financial aid to families of soldiers killed  in shell blast

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Tuesday handed over financial assistance to the families of two army personnel who were killed in a shell blast during tank firing exercise at the Hathazari Field Firing Range in Chattogram.

He also assured the bereaved families that the government and the Bangladesh Army would always stand by them and provide necessary support.
The Prime Minister met the family members at his office in Tejgaon this morning and expressed deep sympathy over the deaths of the soldiers, said PM's Deputy Press Secretary Hasan Shiplu, BSS reports.

During the meeting, Prime Minister's wife Dr Zubaida Rahman, Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman and senior army officials were present.

Tarique Rahman said, "Serving the country, our soldiers have sacrificed their lives. They have become martyrs for the country. The nation will remember their sacrifice with profound respect."

Addressing the bereaved family members, he said, "We are with you and will remain by your side in this time of grief. The government and the Army will always stand by your families. Alongside providing necessary assistance, the government will also fulfil its responsibility to look after the families of the martyred soldiers." 

Later, the Prime Minister handed over cheques for financial assistance to the families of the two soldiers.

The Army will also take initiatives to build a house for each bereaved family at the soldiers' permanent addresses. Arrangements will also be made to provide jobs to their wives and monthly allowances to their children. 

On September 09, two Bangladesh Army soldiers- Abu Bakar Siddique and Md Tasnim Riafat- were killed and an officer was seriously injured in an accident during a tank firing exercise at the Hathazari Field Firing Range in Chattogram.

Abu Bakar Siddique's family members present at the meeting were his wife Suraiya Akter Juthi, daughter Fatema Siddika, father Abdul Wahab and mother Parvin Akter.

Md Tasnim Riafat's family members included his wife Fahmida Afrin, daughter Rafsa Tasnim Ifra and father Md Asadul Haque.
