PM for expanding cooperation with China
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Monday laid emphasis on further expanding trade, investment and development cooperation between Bangladesh and China.
The issues were discussed when outgoing Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen paid a farewell call on the Prime Minister at the Prime Minister's Office at the Secretariat, UNB reports.
The issues of mutual interest, including the Rohingya crisis, were discussed.
"It was a farewell meeting. During the meeting, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman laid emphasis on further expanding trade, investment and development cooperation between the two countries," said Prime Minister's Deputy Press Secretary Mostafa Zulfiquar Hasan (Hasan Shiplu).
Ambassador Yao said China's support for Bangladesh's development efforts would continue and expressed hope that relations between the two countries would be strengthened further.
The Chinese Ambassador congratulated Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on his successful participation in the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly and various programmes in New York.
Ambassador Yao thanked the Prime Minister for his longstanding care and support for Bangladesh-China relations and the friendly cooperation between the two countries, according to the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka.
He said China supports the new government led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman in governing smoothly.
"China will always be a trustworthy good friend, good neighbor, and good partner of Bangladesh, and stands ready to strengthen strategic communication and deepen practical cooperation with Bangladesh so as to further deepen and substantiate the China-Bangladesh community with a shared future in the new era," he said.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir and Invest Bangladesh Chairman Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun were present at the meeting.
Deputy Chief of Mission of the Chinese Embassy Dr Liu Yuyin accompanied the Ambassador.
