Salahuddin Noman is reportedly becoming next Foreign Secretary

Former Bangladesh Permanent Representative to the United Nations Salahuddin Noman Chowdhury is set to become the country's next foreign secretary. According to sources concerned, he may take charge of the top administrative post at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs toward the end of this month.

Salahuddin Noman Chowdhury has been chosen to succeed the current Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Siam, following the latter's appointment as Bangladesh's next high commissioner to India. The information was disclosed by multiple sources at the government's policymaking level.

According to the sources, the names of several senior diplomats had been considered for the post of foreign secretary. However, Salahuddin Noman Chowdhury was ultimately selected as the preferred candidate. His appointment is now awaiting formal approval, the sources said.

Salahuddin Noman Chowdhury joined the foreign affairs cadre in 1998. He has more than 25 years of experience in diplomacy. During his career, he has held several important positions in both bilateral and multilateral diplomacy.
