Arrest warrant issued on actress Pori Moni
A court has issued an arrest warrant against actress Pori Moni in an attempted murder case filed by businessman Nasir Uddin Mahmud.
The order was passed by a judicial court in Dhaka on Wednesday.
Pori Moni's lawyer, Nilanjana Rifat Suravi, confirmed the matter to journalists.
She said on Wednesday had been fixed for the recording of witness testimony in the attempted murder case filed by businessman Nasir Uddin Mahmud. However, Pori Moni could not appear in court because she was ill.
Following an application filed by the plaintiff, the court subsequently cancelled Pori Moni's bail and ordered the issuance of an arrest warrant against her.
Businessman Nasir Uddin Mahmud filed the attempted murder case at a Dhaka judicial court in July 2022.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), an argument broke out between Pori Moni and the businessman after the actress entered a club in Savar and consumed alcohol, allegedly demanding to take it away without paying.
The FIR further alleges that the argument escalated into a physical altercation, during which Pori Moni assaulted the businessman and threatened to kill him.
