Shahabuddin Ahmed (born on 11 September 1950) is a painter born in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Dhaka before obtaining a scholarship to study at the Ecole Superieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris. Shahabuddin served as a Platoon Commander for the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971, before studying art, and his experiences in the war are clearly reflected in his artwork. He has painted numerous scenes from the war (e.g. the Killing of the Intellectuals) as well as portraits of key figures such as Sheikh Mujhibur Rahman. Shahabuddin's work also takes a look at our present times.
